Restorative Solutions
Restorative dentistry is commonly used to repair teeth that have been affected by cavities. It may also be used to restore teeth damaged by dental trauma and repair teeth that have become infected due to unchecked decay. Restorative treatments may also be required to restore a missing permanent tooth, but this is relatively rare in pediatric dentistry.
If you believe that your child has an infected or damaged tooth, it’s important to visit your trusted San Diego pediatric dentist right away. The sooner you get care, the easier it will be to restore your child’s tooth and eliminate their pain and discomfort.

Dental Fillings
Dental fillings are a great way to restore teeth that have been affected by minor-to-moderate tooth decay. First, the existing tooth is trimmed to remove damaged material. Then, Dr. Wendy will apply a tooth-colored resin, glass ionomer material, or dental amalgam to the tooth, shaping it and trimming it until the natural appearance and function of your child’s smile have both been restored.

Stainless Steel Crowns
Stainless steel crowns are an alternative to fillings for teeth with extensive decay. They may also be used to restore a tooth that’s been cracked or broken, or to protect a tooth after nerve treatment. Our pre-fitted stainless steel crowns will protect and cover up your child’s tooth, restoring its shape and function, and preventing further complications.
Treat Infected Teeth
Pulpotomies
The pulp is full of the nerves and blood vessels that keep your child’s tooth alive. A pulpotomy may be required if your child has a large cavity that reaches the pulp. This treatment involves creating an opening in the tooth, and removing infected nerve from the inside of the tooth.
After decayed material is removed, the tooth is treated with a special compound that destroys bacteria and encourages proper healing. Then, the tooth is disinfected and sealed with a crown.
Keep Your Child Comfortable
Laughing Gas
Laughing gas (nitrous oxide) is a safe, fast, and simple way to ease your child's anxiety during treatment. Nitrous is administered by simply breathing through a comfortable nose mask. This mask will deliver a stream of nitrous oxide gas and oxygen, which will make your child feel more comfortable and minimize feelings of anxiety.
